
She was fascinated with the salt water. Splash, lick, splash, lick. It took some time before we recognized her eager pattern of licking her salty hands.

"Tell me the most important thing you ever learned in school," the wiseman queried. "To always and everywhere love learning," came the reply of his dutiful pupil.


I've never had my own garden before.
(Potted herbs aside.)
This summer we decided to play around with the bit of earth that we have.
And do some planting.
In surprise [or shock] to us all, our garden has flourished! While the gardens around us have not?!?
Who knew my little secret would make all the difference:
Watering.
I have fallen in love with the fuschia.
I'm keeping the babies away from the fragrant (though poisonous) oleanders.
The greens for our salad are still untested.
The sunflowers are still growing.
But the herbs are heaven.
The experience of fresh peppermint tea, in particular, may not be overstated.
